This is a public restroom for the local people of Nungwi Beach; a small beach town on Zanzibar Island. I chose to keep forms simple on the exterior, used modern fixtures, artisanal accessories and explored graphic cultural motifs. It was also important to me to use locally sourced natural materials that compliment the beautiful beach setting. The Zanzibari towns people deserve a public restroom fit for a resort but is as accessible as home!
