This is a public restroom for the local people of Nungwi Beach; a small beach town on Zanzibar Island. I chose to keep forms simple on the exterior, use modern fixtures, artisanal accessories and explore graphic cultural motifs. It was also important to me to use locally sourced natural materials that compliment the beautiful beach setting. The Zanzibari towns people deserve a public restroom fit for a resort but that is as accessible as home!
