“She Blooms is a commemoration of Black women’s resiliency with collage portraiture. I decided to use florals to highlight her fragile beauty while praising her persistence to grow despite the climate. She is a gardener; tending to her soul in the rain, providing nourishment to the seeds planted within her by God...and her floral crown is the result of her self-preservation amidst the storm.”
